Redang is a popular island of Kuala Terengganu in Malaysia. Inspired from the classic Aloha shirt, this oversized piece is constructed with ‘Pesak’ side panels and traditionally hand painted with a wax resist dyeing technique, named Batik. Behati’s signature hibiscus block is used with hand wax cracking technique that resembles the beach waves. The wordings is silk-screen printed on cotton fabric, with writings in Malay poetry line ‘Kahwinkan Aku Kepada Pulau Cintaku’, that translates ‘Marry me to the island that I love most’, storying a desperate feeling to be on the island.
